Oh. Yeah. Okay. Cool.

[ BEEP ]

[ For the record, this call is attempted approximately six times before she actually manages to send it. ]

So. The first thing I'm going to say is I'm sorry. [ Throwing stuff at him? Not cool. It made sense at the moment but she'd also been absolutely livid so now that she's not... There's a certain amount of embarrassment in her voice. Guilt. Worry. A lot, really, and she kind of rambles on the rest of the message as if she'll lose her courage to send it ( again ) sometime soon. ]

I know you probably don't want to talk me, like, ever again but I just wanted you to know that. Even if I was mad, how I acted was completely ridiculous and. It wasn't even your fault. [ No more than hers, anyway. ] I should have asked, or. I don't know. I guess it didn't matter, really, because I was just happy being with you too.

[ It's what she'd told Clark and, for once, it was something she'd meant wholeheartedly. Sure, she'd been pissed, but in the end... Did it even matter? Every frustration from before seems so insignificant now. Funny how horrible agonizing pain will put things into perspective. ]

If you do happen to want to speak to me again, there's... something I need to tell you. It's not about us, really. It's about me. Something I should have told you before you left but didn't because I was scared to. [ Terrified, actually, because he'd realize what a horrible monster she was and regret ever seeing anything in her.

But he needs to know. Now more than ever. Especially since it'll make other things easier to explain. ]

So, uhm. I hope I hear from you.

[ he doesn't really want to talk to her. it's been a little over two weeks, but she made herself pretty clear back then about how she felt. he tried to apologize, and she literally threw it back in his face — or, at least, made an attempt to. if rob hadn't been there to intervene, it likely would have hit him, since he actually felt like he deserved it then and was too emotionally exhausted to just step to the side to avoid whatever she'd chucked at him. ]

[ he could easily throw her own apology back at her — he'd at least be acting his age if he did, wouldn't he? it's probably what she expects, too, which is the only reason he doesn't just ignore her call. she wants to talk, so they'll talk, but he can't promise he won't still be guarded or upset. ]

Hey. We should probably talk in person. [ robin won't like it, but wally's done stupider stuff in his life than having a second chat with his (he guesses) ex-girlfriend. ] I'll meet you back at Block 1. [ since he hasn't left block 6 since he got here. it's just ... safer, constantly being around rob. maybe it's slightly unhealthy the attachment they've formed, but it's not like wally can't go out and do things on his own. it's just ... sometimes it's easier with rob as his shadow, acting sort of like a safety net in case something bad happens. ]

[ he ends the call and heads toward block 1, making some excuse as to where he's going. he knows better than to think rob won't get suspicious, but he can deal with the repercussions of lying to him later. he doesn't bother knocking, as technically block 1 is where he's supposed to live, but for some reason he's been able to stay with rob without any side effects and he's not about to look a gift horse in the mouth. he does knock on the door to the individual bedroom, though, just in case she happens to be indecent for whatever reason. he still has manners even if they're not together anymore. ]

Rose? It's me.

[ Honestly, Wally actually coming to see her was more than she ever could have expected after the way she'd behaved. It's both a relief and absolutely terrifying. Talking face to face will make it a little easier to explain everything to him... but, as she hears him approach, she isn't so sure she has the courage to.

Deep breaths, Rose. It'll be alright. Hesitantly, she opens the door to her room with her good hand. Like usual, she has a smile ready but it's a bit more cautious than her common happy-go-lucky grin. While sincerely happy to see him all things considered, she's quick to remind herself that his presence isn't actually for a good reason. There is one thing he'll definitely notice immediately - around her neck is a ring of black and blue bruises; they're obvious signs of strangulation.

The second observable detail is far more subtle. She opens the door with one hand, keeping her other firmly planted in the front pocket of the jacket she's wearing. It's a little awkward but Rose herself often is so it doesn't stand out too much. The longer she keeps it there and lets her other hand lay at her side, however, it will. ]

Hey, dude. Glad you decided to come. [ It's a little strange, she realizes belatedly, that he's technically supposed to be her and Newt's roommate. While she doesn't expect him to stay here anytime soon, it'd be nice to eventually be back on friendly enough terms where that could be possible. ]

I promise it'll be quick, it's just... something I need to say. [ A beat. ] I'm not. Really sure how to start. [ ... Off to a promising beginning. ]

I guess - You know I'm not human. That makes things a little easier. I didn't... ever explain to you why I'm kind of. Scared of people knowing about me though, did I?
